Peace, by Unknownfound on TES.com
The wind is now
a roaring, smashing monster of destruction, raking all man’s work from the valleys, from the vales, and sends them spinning, Broken flying - but all of that is not its core, It’s centre is in truth eternal stillness bright blue skies and all you hear are gentle whispers far away and unimportant. ~ Unknown Poem AnalysisThis poem is a perfect example of a poem that uses personification. First off, the definition of personification is: the attribution of human characteristics to nonhuman things, for example “the cat took long and lazy strides down the street.” Using personification makes it much easier to visualize what the text is saying. The poet gave human characteristics to wind, for example “wind is now a - roaring, smashing- monster of destruction” this shows that wind roars, and smashes, which is something that humans do, therefore proving that this poem uses personification. Another example of personification in this poem is: “the enter is in truth-eternal stillness” the whole phrase represents the centre, or the eye of the tornado, which is said to have total stillness, and peace. This is personification because many people believe that no matter how savage the person is from the outside, their soul, which is considered the centre, or the core of the body by many people, is true, eternally still, and peaceful. The theme of the poem in the first stanza is very nerve racking, and much more powerful than the second stanza. This probably happened because of the choice of language, and how it is laid out. The second stanza is very calming, especially when compared to the first stanza. This may be because the poet talks about eternal stillness, and other peaceful things, like bright blue skies, truth and gentle whispers.
My Own PoemPain
Thump Thump Goes the heart Beating fast in fear We try to avoid the tears But sometimes We must be fail, so we can grow. We must deteriorate, so we can learn. And we must lose, so we can gain. Pain teaches us. Makes us complete Gives us power Because sometimes our greatest foe, is our best friend. |
